Escaping to Oak Creek, Jerome & Prescott
The Perfect Arizona Getaway
Listen to Episode #122
Sometimes the best adventures don't require weeks of planning or thousands of miles behind the wheel.
In Episode #122 of the Anderson Overland Podcast, we're talking about escaping to Northern Arizona and exploring some of our favorite destinations around Oak Creek, Jerome, and Prescott.
From scenic drives and mountain roads to historic Arizona towns and spontaneous stops along the way, this episode is about getting away, slowing down, and remembering why we love road trips and exploring in the first place.
The Perfect Northern Arizona Road Trip
Arizona offers an incredible variety of landscapes, and Northern Arizona can feel completely different from the desert terrain found throughout much of the state.
Mountain roads, pine forests, red rock country, historic towns, and cooler temperatures make the region an incredible destination for weekend road trips and overland-style adventures.
Oak Creek, Jerome, and Prescott can all become part of an Arizona getaway that combines scenic driving, exploring, food, history, outdoor recreation, and plenty of opportunities to simply enjoy the journey.
Exploring Oak Creek Canyon
Oak Creek Canyon is one of the most recognizable scenic areas in Northern Arizona and a popular destination for travelers exploring the Sedona and Flagstaff region.
With red rock scenery, forested areas, Oak Creek, campgrounds, hiking opportunities, and scenic roads, the area makes an excellent stop during an Arizona road trip.
It's also a great example of why the destination doesn't always have to be the entire point of a trip. Sometimes the drive, stops, scenery, and unexpected places you find along the way become the best parts of the adventure.
Visiting Jerome, Arizona
Built into the side of Cleopatra Hill, Jerome is one of Arizona's most unique historic towns.
Once a booming mining community, Jerome has evolved into a popular destination known for its history, hillside streets, historic buildings, shops, restaurants, art, and incredible views across the Verde Valley.
It's the kind of destination that fits perfectly into an adventure road trip because you can park the vehicle, walk around town, explore the history, grab something to eat, and experience a completely different side of Arizona.
Exploring Prescott, Arizona
Prescott combines Arizona history, mountain scenery, outdoor recreation, and a classic downtown atmosphere.
The historic downtown and surrounding areas make Prescott a great destination for a weekend getaway or a stop during a longer Northern Arizona road trip.
Whether you're exploring the backroads around the area, spending time downtown, or simply enjoying the cooler mountain environment, Prescott offers another side of Arizona that's worth slowing down to experience.
You Don't Need a Huge Trip to Have an Adventure
One of the things we've learned through Anderson Overland is that adventure doesn't always need to mean a massive expedition.
Sometimes it's simply loading up the vehicle, getting out of town, taking the scenic route, and spending a couple of days exploring somewhere different.
Short road trips and weekend adventures can be some of the easiest ways to spend more time outdoors, discover new destinations, and create memories without needing weeks away from everyday life.
